Does OptinMonster Work on Mobile?

A common question is, “Does OptinMonster work on mobile?”

Historically, our answer has been, “Yes, OptinMonster is now mobile responsive. To optimize the mobile experience, OptinMonster allows you to create a mobile-specific optin. You can access this new optin type only if you have a Pro License or higher.”

What about those with a basic license or a plus license? Can they utilize the mobile responsiveness of OptinMonster? Yes! Now, OptinMonster has become even more mobile responsive!

Manually Trigger Lightbox on Mobile

Now, if you have a lightbox optin, you can have it load on mobile if you create a manual trigger, such as a button or an image.

If you click the example here, you will see it load on your mobile device: Manually Triggered Optin that Loads on Mobile!

Difference Between Manual Trigger and Mobile Optin

Some users may be wondering, what is the difference between the Manual Trigger and Mobile Optin?

Mobile optins bring the full benefits of an OptinMonster optin to the mobile device; the time delays and pre-made mobile templates comes only with the mobile-specifc optin.

The Mobile Optin grants you full customization and design (including Canvas), along with page-level targeting.

Therefore, if you are operating on a budget, you can use a basic license and connect a well-designed button to manually trigger your lightbox optin.

However, if you want more comprehensive design, precision reporting, and auto-loading, then upgrade to a Pro License and begin dramatically increasing your subscriber base.

Your literature says that your forms are responsive but you really do not offer a form that will work for desktop and mobile. My word press theme is responsive and I do nothing it just works, for both platforms. I am not a sophisticated developer and perhaps this is a quibble, but it seems to me that you could add a true responsive form. That is the way other people who advertise being responsive, do it.

I would also like to know if there is an answer to the ‘quibble’ Clay has raised. Can’t the popups be truly responsive?

      1. Mary Fernandez Mary Fernandez says:

        Hi Hitesh and Clay,

Everything we do is mobile responsive. The reason we have mobile-specific designs is to give you complete, granular control over how your optins look on small screens.

So to answer your question: yes, you could technically just use one of the regular designs and it would be responsive to match the size of a mobile screen. However, it may not look perfect. For example, if you put a lot of copy in there, that text will probably need to be sized down significantly in order to look nice on mobile screens. That’s why we give you complete control with mobile-specific designs.

I hope that helps answer your question!

P.S. I should also note that the lightbox optin form is not enabled on mobile by default. To ensure that your optins look perfect on small screens, use a mobile theme for your lightbox popups.

I have found Optininmonster a nightmare. We have a pro-subscription, but no one ever answers our questions. We bought a geo plugin we could not use and could never get anyone to respond to our request for a refund.

Now, we are being tortured by pop ups not working on all platforms. It took us forever to get desktop to work and now mobile is not working.

Supposed to be such a great tool.

I’m sorry you’re having trouble getting OptinMonster working as you’d like. I’d be happy to take a look at your account. Could you please share the email address used to submit your last tickets so I can follow up? Thanks!

Given the new Google pop-up rules, how can I ensure our pop-up doesn’t appear on mobile devices? We have a standard account

    1. Mary Fernandez Mary Fernandez says:

If you use OptinMonster, then you are already compliant with Google’s new rules. See this post for more information: The New Google Mobile Friendly Rules for Popups (and How They Affect OptinMonster).
